24 Hour - Naan and Curry
A 2:00 AM snack at Naan'n'Curry on Eddy. After our Peruvian feast we met up with Susan and Tom at the Gold Dust on Powell. Powell has a Baby Gap and an H&M Store! That's new for me...it's also nice to see the bums, the cable car turnaround and Blondies - all at their usual locations. I brought along pictures of Daisy for everyone to coo at. Such a cute puppy. But she's smelly right now. Real smelly. I'm having her get a bath at day care today. Thank God for Dog Day Afternoon.
Now, I'm more familiar with the Naan'n'Curry in Berkeley. It was one of our favorite lunch spots when I worked at Haas. After we did drinks at the Gold Dust - we headed to New Dehli for some peace and quiet. The Gold Dust is fun for live piano music and friendly waitreses - oh and cheap irish coffee. New Dehli had swanky vibe. Mark lost a couple of chess games to Tom. He didn't castle when I told him to...such is life. Susan and I tried out the fruit-infused vodka. She did lychee vodka with 7-up and I did strawberry-flavored vodka. Very nice and naturally, I couldn't taste the booze with the 7-up. A good drink.
2:00 AM felt like I was in the middle of my work day. So I wanted lunch. A cab driver told us Naan'n'Curry was just around the corner - so we sent Susan and Tom home....and then we indulged my chicken tikki masala craving. Oh yeah! Complex, hearty, almost cheesy but so much more...I love that tikki sauce. We also did veggie samosas.
Gothic Lolita

Oh yeah, I had my favorite. I LOVE THIS! So cute! I didn't get a picture of it but she does a really cute pose with the sleeves and everything. Just thinking about it makes me want to shatter a car window with my fists. (No really, why is it when people see something cute it drives them to violence? Wanting to pinch a baby's cheeks isn't exactly a pacifist reaction. Or worse, wanting to squish a puppy or kitten. Elmyra anyone?)
I think the reason why I like this so much is the sleeves remind me of Oh! Milk-Chan. A straight-jacket, who knew?
These girls all represent different tangents of Japanese style. The ones I can remember are lolita goth, white lolita, ganguro, military lolita, etc. They mentioned some other styles like steampunk. Google it!
The Trifecta

I used to dog sit for Dolly (the yellow lab), Lucy (the chocolate) and their older sister Zeta (another chocolate lab). Dolly was adorable.. a very light colored dog, almost white. The very hip gay couple that owned the dogs had really cute family pictures of them, the two chocolates and baby Dolly in a snuggy pack. She had blue eyes as a puppy! Not good lab breeding, but cute puppy.
I would take these two and my Tumalo out to Forest Park so they could get a good run. Many of my dog sitting client dogs just don't get out in the woods very often and these guys are no exceptions. The three of them would fly up and down the fire roads, close to 200 pounds of Labrador Retriever just going crazy. You gotta keep your eye on that, because they aren't looking for you :) Dolly would root around in mud puddles until her whole face, chest and belly were covered in the thick black mud we grow around here. I told her her daddys would be apallled, she didn't care. They always got baths before going into the che modern condo :)
My favorite part of dog sitting is taking dogs who are loved but don't always get to Just Be Dogs out into places where they can run and sniff and wallow in mud puddles. I wonder how these guys are doing these days...

AND can't hang at the Constables without a cute picture of Brooke the wonder dog - my favorite. And thanks to a recommendation from Gabby, Sarah and I enjoyed a little face time with Cha Cha, a baby version of Brooklyn, on Daily Puppy
