I feel so bad I got Changs birthday wrong so I;m going through & fixing...
I had to repost so I added past comments...

Chang is a english toy spaniel, king charles
HE CAME TO ME FROM A PUPPY MILL IN MARCH 1998. HE WAS IN SUCH BAD SHAPE, BUT TURNED INTO THE MOST LOVING LITTLE GUY. IT DID TAKE HIM A WHILE THOUGH. HE WAS VERY AFRAID OF EVERYTHING. THANKS TO GOD I HAD HIM FOR 10 YEARS. HE WAS & WILL AWAYS BE "MY LIGHT". IT WAS TIME THIS MORING HE COULD'NT STAND ANY MORE, & THE BAD PEE MONSTER WOULD GET HIM BECAUSE HE WAS'NT ABLE TO STAND UP AND GO. HEART MUMMER & OTHER THINGS. HE IS WITH MERCIE NOW AT THE BRIDGE. HE LOVED HER SO MUCH AND I KNOW COKIE WILL TAKE CARE OF HIM, SHE WAS THE MOTHER HEN OF THE BUNCH...
.WE LOVE YOU CHANG..MOMMY,DADDY, DALE & JOSH
WE WILL BE TO GETHER AGIAN, YOU BE A GOOD BOY FOR ME..AND WAIT FOR ME AT THE BRIDGE .....HUGGS & KISSES

DOGS PLEA
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me.

Do not break my spirit with a stick, for although I should lick your hand between blows, your patience and understanding will quickly teach me the things you would have me learn.

Speak to me often, for your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ear.

Please take me inside when it is cold and wet, for I am a domesticated animal, no longer accustomed to bitter elements. I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I suffer thirst.

Feed me clean food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side and stand ready, willing and able to protect you with my life, should your life be in danger.

And, my friend, when I am very old, and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

RAINBOW BRIDGE
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to
someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are
meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they
can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water
and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to
health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our
dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and
content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone
very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one
suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to
run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs
carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend
finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to
be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your
hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more
into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your
life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together...

This is a poem I got from my vet when Chips died. I'm so sorry for your loss. Sorry it's long, but it's beautiful.

Friend to Friend

You're giving me a special gift,
So sorrowfully endowed,
And through these last few cherished days,
Your courage makes me proud.

But really, love is knowing
When your best friend is in pain,
And understanding earthly acts
Will only be in vain.

So looking deep into your eyes,
Beyond, into your soul,
I see in you the magic, that will
Once more make me whole.

The strength that you possess,
Is why I look to you today,
To do this thing that must be done,
For it's the only way.

That strength is why I've followed you,
And chose you as my friend,
And why I've loved you all these years...
My partner 'til the end.

Please, understand just what this gift,
You're giving, means to me,
It gives me back the strength I've lost,
And all my dignity.

You take a stand on my behalf,
For that is what friends do.
And know that what you do is right,
For I believe it too.

So one last time, I breathe your scent,
And through your hand I feel,
The courage that's within you,
To now grant me this appeal.

Cut the leash that holds me here,
Dear friend, and let me run,
Once more a strong and steady dog,
My pain and struggle done.

And don't despair my passing,
For I won't be far away,
Forever here, within your heart,
And memory I'll stay.

I'll be there watching over you,
Your ever faithful friend,
And in your memories I'll run,
...a young dog once again.

I'm so very sorry to hear the sad news of your loss of Chang. It is so difficult to say goodbye....and so heartbreaking. We know we are making the right decision for them, but for us, not easy at all. It leaves a huge hole in our hearts to say goodbye to our beloved furbabies....and I couldn't help but shed tears reading the poems. I miss my beloved Duke so much. The memories and photos I have are so precious. The promise that someday....we will be reunited...is a great source of comfort to me.
My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to you.
God Bless You for taking such wonderful care of Chang. I'm sure he know how much he was loved....and cared for. May you find comfort in all of the wonderful memories and photos....and the promise of being reunited someday.

IT WOULDN'T BE HEAVEN

I got to the gate of heaven today, after we said goodbye.
I began to miss you terribly, because I heard you cry.

Suddenly there was an angel, and she asked me to enter Heaven's gate.
I asked her if I could stay outside for someone who would be late.
I wouldn't make much noise you see, I wouldn't bark or howl.
I'll only wait here patiently and play with my tennis ball.

The angel said I could stay right here and wait for you to come.
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven if I went in alone.
So I'll wait right here, you take your time, but keep me in your heart.
Because Heaven just wouldn't be Heaven without you to warm my heart.

Chang looks like he was well-loved and cared for...and led such a happy life despite the rocky beginning at the puppy mill. I'm sure Chang is forever grateful to you...and clearly your life has been richly blessed by him.

May you find comfort in the wonderful memories you shared together during these upcoming difficult days of missing him. I know it isn't easy...I'm still sad about the sudden death of my dog companion, Casey, of almost 13 years (on 2/13/08...the day before Valentine's Day).
